Oh no she didn't.

Oh Yes. She did.

Mackenzie jumped out of the crib. 18 months. Same as David. Why are my children so wild? I don't know. I just don't know. She pulls her whole body weight up, climbs the rails with her feet, and hoists her little 20 lb body over the side. Unbelievable.

But, this time I fought back. And I won. You see, David transitioned VERY well when we moved him at 18 mths to a bed. He had "big boy" mentality and never got out of a big bed. Bedtime was never a battle, he just stayed in the bed. Mackenzie, on the other hand, does not have "big girl" mentality. She loves being a baby and wants to be a baby. She flipped out when we tried the toddler bed and twin bed. She acted like we were throwing her into a lake of fire.

So, my mother in law found this crib tent on craigslist, and turns out it's the best one with reviews out there, SCORE! And, I got it for half price =)

We researched them a lot and saw that there has only been 3 crib tent deaths. One b/c the parent did not install it properly and the other 2 children were older and ripped the tent apart and suffocated. Too much info I know, but seriously people?? The odds out there say that she would be more likely to die in a car seat malfunction, stroller accident, or on a neighborhood walk. Anyway, it is VERY safe. It is a whole piece unit that fits over the entire crib. There is no loose mesh and goes up pretty high. It has awesome reviews on amazon and I feel very safe with her in there. We also have monitors and I check on her many times anyway, even before the jumping episode.

So, I wanted to tell you..... if your little monkey jumps out. This thing is awesome. You are supposed to move them out by 3, but I'm sure we'll try at 2 1/2 to get her in a bed, a YEAR from now when she is SUPPOSED to do it!! Ha!

Does anyone else out there have this problem? I'm beginning to think my kids are supernatural.

Saving Money Gone Wrong!

I get a little over confident sometimes with my abilities to save money. There are some things I am good at: shopping deals at Ann Taylor Loft, Publix, and CVS. I also have a knack for spotting deals on craigslist and yard sales.

Well, let me tell you what I DONT have a knack for: cutting hair. Once I tried to cut Tims, with guards and all, and totally screwed it up. He had to immediately go to a place and get it fixed. I gouged his head and it looked like he got into a fight with the clippers!

I decided to try once more.... this time on the dog! It's $40 to take her to get groomed. I've been taking her since we've had her so I don't know WHY I became nerodic and thought I could do it. I just had a whim and thought, "its just a dog, its not rocket science! how hard could it be?!" Famous last words. She looks awful. Poor Holly. She was a cute, fluffy Bichon and now she looks like we "found" her or she was a "rescue" animal. You can tell she is sad, she knows how ugly she looks. And I made her that way. Oooooohhhhh, sob. Oh well, at least she isn't hot anymore. After I shaved her, I had a grocery bag full of hair. She was kind of like a sheep before I shaved her.
It's okay, I know she looks horrible. You don't have to try and make me feel better. No more hair cutting for me. Period.

I don't know what it was with the hair this week, but David said he wanted curly hair and got into the curlers, good grief! I posted this one just for his daddy.

Anyway, little peanut turned 18 months and I put up some of her sweet baby photos! I don't quite know what to do with all her cuteness =) If she could be doing something all day, it would be this:

For Father's Day, Tim and David went to see Toy Story 3... apparently that was the popular thing to do b/c he was packed in the theather with other father/sons &daughters! David just thinks his daddy is a superhero for renovation our new house, it's hilarious! And sweet! He is a sweetheart and has been helping "correct" Mackenzie when she gets out of line. Which by the way, my theory is wrong. Girls can be just as wild as boys. I think we just make wild babies. Oh, well.... it's not gender specific so that's good for us! The wild ones are always the cute ones..... they have to be or else!

the game is still going

Okay, remember the bigger and better game at this post?

Well, the $4 has now turned into $100, how fun.

We drove past a random garage sale and I spotted this.... a dollhouse, $10.

Mackenzie, obviously is a little too small for it now, so I put it on craigslist! Would you believe I sold this thing the first day for $75??!

So, our game is now up to $100. We'll see what is next. The game may have to slow down a little because of the home renovation we just took on!

If you haven't visited the site, I just made a new one for it! I am really excited about it so I hope you will follow and watch our progress! The new site is www.thenelliemaeproject.com.

It is really neat because for 4 years, my husband has dreamed of renovating a home. He actually left his first job doing college ministry to chase this dream. It was innately in him. I am just so happy for both of us because he gets to do his dream.... while also restoring the same home that my great grandfather built. I couldn't be happier.

Savannah

We just spent a week in Savannah helping my sister move in! After a very long time of her and her husband living apart during the week, their house being on the market forever, and many contracts that fell through.... they finally found some long term renters to rent their home in Kennesaw and have moved to Savannah! They live in an awesome house on Wilmington Island.
We helped them move down there, load and unload the Uhaul, work on the house, but also have tons of fun and hang out at the beach!
They bought a foreclosure and the house needed a good bit of work. (Not as much as Nellie Mae though!) So we landscaped, cleaned, raked leaves, mulched, cleaned the deck, painted, unpacked, and kept up with all 4 of these little ones below!! We will be making lots of roadtrips to Savannah and will miss them tons! Here are some highlights and I posted the whole album on facebook! I'm kind of in love with Savannah and am secretly keeping my fingers crossed that someday we could be there! Until then, I plan on going down a lot! My sister and I cried, along with our kids, when we left =(David, Mackenzie with cousins Michael and Jonathan. So funny they are 4,3,2, and 1.
We also went to Paula Deens restaurant, Lady and Sons. It was heavenly. Here's the food! And, the beach!! We went to Tybee Island every morning and they kids just sat at the shoreline and played! It was the first easy summer with them because they just entertained themselves!
